“My name is Musa. This is my path.”
Date: 11th November, 2025
They handed me a certificate. No claps. No photos. No sea of smiling faces. Just a quiet promise that things would get better now as if that paper alone could repay the years it took to earn it.
Life after graduation? It wasn’t a celebration. It was a storm.
I lost everything I thought I had. The husband of my grandmother, the one man who gave me the calmness of a father. Then my real father. Then my mother. Then my grandmother and my dad’s mother. All gone within a year and a few days. It felt like a part of me was dying each time.
And the world? It kept moving.
No job. No calls. No friends. No hand to hold. People I loved grew distant. People I needed disappeared. Suddenly, I was alone with nothing but my name and my prayers.
I used to think Musa was just a name. Now I know it was a prophecy.
Because like the Musa in the Qur’an, I was cast into the river of life without direction. Tossed by waves of grief, pain, and rejection.
But unlike others, I wasn’t lost. I was being delivered.
One night, I stared into the sky and said:
“Ya Allah, what is left for me?”
And the answer wasn’t loud but it was clear: “Speak. Write. Serve.”
That was the beginning of my real education. Not from books but from brokenness. Not in lecture halls but in lonely mosques and empty rooms where only Allah listened.
I became a speaker.
A writer.
A seeker.
I found that my wounds carried wisdom. That people didn’t need someone perfect, they needed someone who survived.
And I realized… maybe that’s why Prophet Musa (AS) is the most mentioned Prophet in the Qur’an.
Because struggle is part of leadership. Because purpose is often birthed from pain.
So I stopped chasing what the world said I should be. And started building what Allah called me to be.
I was a ship without a sail, drifting with no direction, until faith became my rudder.
My name is Musa. This is what I found when I stopped running.
See you on the next one December 11th.
